Thank you for reviewing the AFib Ablation Registry's Monthly Case Scenario for February 2020. We will be discussing the Registry's Inclusion Criteria. We have documentation of a patient who is admitted for an AFib Ablation Procedure. The procedure is aborted during transeptal puncture due to complications. An emergency pericardiocentesis is performed due to a pericardial effusion with tamponade. The patient is then transferred to the ICU for recovery. The question is, will this aborted procedure be included in the AFib Ablation Registry? No or Yes? Please review the documentation and question to determine the best answer. We will give you a few seconds to review. The answer is No. 1, No. This procedure will not be included in the Registry. If an AFib Ablation Procedure is aborted or canceled and no attempt at utilizing an ablation strategy takes place, please do not include the aborted or canceled procedure in the AFib Ablation Registry. If the procedure was aborted after an ablation was attempted, the procedure will then be captured in the Registry. Please refer to the Submission Population Inclusion Criteria document. The document is located under the Resources tab and Documents. Once in the Documents page, the Inclusion Criteria document is found under User Guide Documents. Thank you for reviewing the AFib Ablation Registry's Monthly Case Scenario for February 2020.
Video Summary
In the February 2020 Monthly Case Scenario video, the AFib Ablation Registry discusses the inclusion criteria for procedures. The video presents a case where a patient's AFib Ablation Procedure is aborted due to complications during transeptal puncture. An emergency pericardiocentesis is performed, and the patient is then transferred to the ICU. The question posed is whether this aborted procedure should be included in the Registry. The answer is No, as procedures that are aborted or canceled without attempting ablation should not be included. However, if an ablation was attempted before the procedure was aborted, it should be included. The Submission Population Inclusion Criteria document provides further guidance on this. The video concludes by thanking viewers for reviewing the case scenario. No credits were provided.
