Pdf Summary
This research poster presentation discusses the improved adherence to quality measures following the Chest Pain – MI (CPMI) registry at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo, Brazil. The hospital has made quality of care improvement in acute myocardial infarction patients a priority since 2005. The Silver Performance Achievement Award was received in 2020, motivating the team to strive for better performance and set a goal of receiving the Gold Performance Achievement Award in 2021. Several actions were implemented to achieve this, such as meetings to discuss gaps in quality of care, establishing a digital communication channel to track patients and promote ideal care, and reinforcing meetings on door to balloon times.

The results show that in 2021, after receiving the award, there was an improvement in overall AMI performance, discharge AMI performance, and overall defect-free care. The rates for these measures were higher in the quarters after receiving the award compared to the first quarter of 2021. Additionally, there was an increase in cardiac rehabilitation referrals, which was previously a gap in the discharge performance composite. Based on these results, the hospital was recognized with the Platinum Performance Achievement Award.

The research concludes that the award recognition was a significant motivation for the multidisciplinary team to aim for and maintain optimal results in AMI care. The hospital continues to learn and develop tools to provide optimal care based on guidelines and scientific evidence. The use of an ACS discharge form in the electronic medical record and improved communication between professionals have contributed to increased staff satisfaction and proper recording of patient care, leading to improved clinical outcomes and quality of life.
