Hello, and welcome to the ACC's Global Quality Solutions Session at Quality Summit 2022. My name is Hector Emanuele, and I'm the Associate Director of Global Quality. Participation in the ACC's quality programs by international facilities is not new. Historically, facilities only had the option to use our NCDR registries as they were designed for U.S. health systems, as well as our accreditation services. Global Quality Solutions provides the ability to localize clinically and from a technological standpoint the registries and our accreditation processes to better fit the reality of our sites overseas. To date, we have 55 quality programs among 48 facilities participating in 20 different countries. By providing a localized data abstraction tool that seeks to fit in the best way possible into systems from a technological standpoint and from a clinical standpoint, we are able to then provide each facility with data, evidence, and improved outcomes that are hyper-relevant to their facility and their surroundings. Just as has been done with NCDR registries for years, GQS also functions in the same way. With a clinical database at the center, we are able to provide quality assessments, quality improvement mechanisms, and the ability to query the database for clinical research, all in the effort of really creating a meaningful role in clinical practice and in healthcare reform around the world. Having a modular system that can be localized allows us to be flexible and nimble enough to include or exclude therapies that may or may not exist in different markets, but it also allows us to include certain metrics that may be important to different facilities around the world. This is something that we would do during the mapping process. Sheila's presentation in this session will go into more detail about this, but it's an important feature and it's something that we've recognized that is indispensable for the true collection of quality data. As the dataset becomes more and more robust, the interactive dashboards and reporting mechanisms of GQS become more and more useful. Through the dashboards, each facility will be able to see in real-time and through several different angles how they are doing in different data metrics. The three main data registries that comprise global quality solutions are the CAF PCI Registry, the Chest Pain MI Registry, and our STS-ACC TBT Registries. Similar to the registries, GQS also provides access to the ACC's accreditation services. All five of our accreditation services are available to GQS sites and the ability to rise to the level of International Center of Excellence. International Center of Excellence is the highest distinction the ACC provides facilities outside the United States. It is recognition for proven commitment to guidelines, quality of care, and continuous improvement in heart health. Additionally, each facility is given access to CardioSource Plus, the ACC's entire suite of educational online activities, as well as the ACC's membership program. And this is open to all members of the CV service line. Global quality solutions exist because the ACC's mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health is a global commitment. Whether the facility be small or large or be in a low resource area or a high resource area, we understand that access to these tools is what really makes the difference in patient outcomes. These advances in CV science does require the understanding of current metrics to really improve implementation and practice. And furthermore, as we localize on a clinical level, technological level, and on a language level, we know that the data becomes much more reliable. And with reliable data, we can create actionable reporting, we can create outcomes and benchmarking that truly reflects reality, and in the end, we provide a continuous stimulant for a culture of continuous quality improvement. In summary, global quality solutions provides the ability for facilities anywhere in the world to be able to engage in solid quality programs in the cardiovascular space. We aim to improve these outcomes, to be able to benchmark more precisely, be it locally, regionally, globally, or against the United States, knowing that these are all elements that are of critical and vital importance to many, many facilities.
