The NCDR has one of the greatest user communities in healthcare, and we've been listening to you. We are redefining the way our users access and respond to NCDR data, making your busy life simpler and more efficient, and ultimately improving quality across the board. NCDR is launching new dashboards that will meet our participants' demands for actionable data that supports optimal care delivery to every patient, every time. Right away, the many improved features will enable faster quality insights within hospitals and health systems, a more flexible user experience, and better visualizations. Beta versions of the new dashboards are launching, but you will still have access to the original versions during this transition. We've come a long way since the start of the registries, and the best is yet to come. The upgraded technology platform also gives the NCDR the flexibility to continue its long-term strategic evolution through faster introduction of future improvements. Keep monitoring NCDR for updates and training resources, and thank you for your commitment to quality. Welcome to this educational overview of the NCDR dashboard, showcasing the pages, features, and functions that are available to you to support metric and measure performance analysis across the NCDR suite of clinical registries. After providing credentials to log into an NCDR registry and selecting the dashboard from the left navigation bar, the user arrives at the dashboard overview page. With this presentation, we will review critical functions and features of the dashboard, including left navigation bar menu selections and the variety of performance-related analyses that can be viewed by visiting the overview, metric summary, and metric detail pages, as well as information related to R4Q, benchmark selection, and current aggregation status. Please note, in several slides of this presentation, you will see this icon. This icon is not present in your facility's dashboard, as it is only for ACC and NCDR internal use. The left side of the screen provides four important functions that are available to the user, regardless of which page is selected. We have elected to start with the overview page, which is the default page where users arrive once logged in and the dashboard is selected. The hamburger menu provides the user the ability to toggle between the facility-level dashboard and other dashboard offerings. Additionally, release notes, as well as historical outcomes reports that were generated in prior dashboard versions, are also accessed here. Please note that once any left menu item is selected, the user must deselect the item by clicking on it a second time in order to exit out of that left menu option. Next, we would like to introduce the slicer menu. The slicer menu enables users to filter data to view a specific rolling four-quarter ending time frame, as well as view facility R4Q performance relative to the 25th, 50th, 75th, or 90th percentile registry benchmark. The bookmark function offers users the capability of adding a customized data snapshot of their choosing. Bookmarks can be named accordingly and saved for future utilization or deleted if no longer desired. Selecting the download icon allows the user to export reports. The current dashboard view can be exported to a PDF document or PowerPoint slide. Additionally, by selecting metric detail report, a comprehensive report including all metrics and detail lines, site, rolling four-quarter, and quarterly performance in relationship to registry benchmarks is available for export to Excel. Once a report is generated and available to be viewed, it will populate under the report's ready for download title. After selecting a metric detail report that is ready for download into Excel, the spreadsheet is generated and able to be viewed. Please note the terminology utilized to identify each column of quarterly data in the rolling four-quarter time frame. TF, or time frame, identifies the ending time frame quarter, which in this example is 2023 quarter one. The prior quarters in the four-quarter ending time frame are identified as TF1, TF2, and TF3. In the example provided, in which the four-quarter ending time frame is 2023 quarter one, TF1 signifies time frame 2022 quarter four, TF2 signifies time frame 2022 quarter three, and TF3 signifies time frame 2022 quarter two. Now that we have reviewed the functions available on the left navigation bar, we turn our focus to begin discussing the different dashboard pages available to the user, beginning with the overview page. Each window pane surrounded by a red border offers a unique overview of consequential metric outcomes or volume-based feedback. The key metrics section provides performance insight into metrics that are considered fundamental to the registry. By hovering over any individual metric from the list of key metrics, the user can evaluate performance over the rolling four-quarter time frame. While presented in the default mode depicting outputs in a chart, when the graph icon is selected, all key metric rolling four-quarter trends appear. Also, when the user hovers over a value on the graph, a pop-up window is generated, showing the numerator and denominator values for that quarter. A new measurement column, identified in the red box and titled Percent Quarter Variance, has been added and is featured throughout the Overview, Metric Summary, and Metric Detail pages and available in downloaded reports as well. The Percentage Quarter Variance provides the increase or decrease in performance results when comparing the most recent quarter selected in the ending time frame with the previous quarter. The option to hover over the Percent Quarter Variance value for any key metric is available and provides a trend graph of the most recent five quarters of data. Depicted on the right side of the Overview page is a volume summary, this particular example illustrating patient type and arrival for the chest pantomime registry. Hovering over any value on the graph provides greater detail. And again, as with key metrics, the information provided can be displayed in a graph or a chart. Please draw your attention to the small icon on the receiving end of the pointed arrow. This is the Focus Mode icon, and it is featured in several places throughout the dashboard. Anytime the Focus Mode icon is present, the user has the ability to select and open to review an enlarged image. And once again, hovering over a data point in the graph will render additional detail. To return to the previous page, the user need only select Back to Report, as shown on the top left portion of the screen. There is one final point with respect to the Overview page that we would like to highlight. This page has been customized to present unique information that is fundamental to each particular registry, and consequently, the output provided in the form of metrics, volume, et cetera, may appear different from registry to registry. The next page on the top navigation bar we will focus on is the Metrics Summary page. The Metrics Summary page comprises all executive summary measures and metrics that can be categorized through the Benchmark Attainment by Category. A specific category or all categories can also be chosen by using the Metric Category drop-down menu. Once a metric category is chosen, in this case, Quality Metrics, the metrics included in that category will be displayed in the bottom window and will provide additional metric detail. The numbers displayed next to the metric category in the Benchmark Attainment by Category window correspond with the total number of metrics included in the metric category. The numbers also show the reviewer how many of the metrics are in each percentile. For example, if looking at Quality Metrics, the Benchmark Attainment by Category window show that out of the four metrics in the category, one metric is in the 0 percentile, which corresponds with metric 54. One metric is in the 25th percentile, corresponding to metric 51. Two more metrics appear in the 50th percentile and 90th percentile, respectively. The placement of the metric in the percentile also corresponds to the color legend. Any given metric that shows an asterisk next to it signifies that the metric has patient-level detail drill-through capability. When one of these metrics is chosen, as with metric 50 in this example, detailed information will be displayed in the upper right-hand window pane and the patient detail link will become available for selection. Clicking here takes the user to a thorough patient-level detail report. Shown here is patient-level detail for the selected metric. Please note the menu highlighted in red. All patient-level detail for the selected metric or detail line can be exported to an Excel spreadsheet. Additionally, there is the option to filter search criteria to desired parameters. Filter options include year quarter, NPI number, insurance payer types, patient display, enabling the ability to search according to all patients or only those that are in or not in the numerator, as well as patient race or sex. Any change made to filter parameter search criteria requires the user to select view report to render the results. Select back to metric summary to return to the previous page. We now turn our attention to the metric detail page. Upon selecting this page, the user is provided detailed feedback, including rolling four-quarter performance benchmarked against the 50th percentile, percent quarter variation, as well as quarterly performance and the U.S. R4Q average for all executive summary measures, metrics, and detail lines. To narrow the focus of a specific detail line or a category of detail lines, we can select a specific metric category from the metric category dropdown menu. Once the selection is made, the metrics or detail lines will be displayed in the main metric detail window. Highlighting a single metric or detail line provides a performance trend line in the bottom window pane. Patient detail drill-through functionality for any metric or detail line identified with an asterisk is available on this page as well. We would like to draw attention to some important detail that is provided at the top right of your dashboard, regardless of whether the overview, metric summary, or metric detail page is selected. Highlighted here is the selected four-quarter ending time frame in which the benchmarks in the current view are generated. The ending time frame of the four-quarter time period that is currently selected, the most recent submission date, as well as the date of the aggregation of the selected ending time frame. The DQR submission status of green, yellow, red, or blank if no data is submitted is featured as well. Lastly, please note the ability to switch to any other registry dashboard in which the user is a participant. Selecting a different registry immediately redirects the user to the dashboard of the selected registry. Thank you for viewing this educational overview of the NCDR Registry Dashboard. We appreciate your ongoing engagement. Please direct any questions to NCDR through the Contact Us link located on the left navigation bar on any registry homepage.
