Episode of Care Version 3.1 Training Medicare Part A or B and Medicare Advantage Part C were added to Sequence 3010 Payment Source and seeks to capture the patient's health insurance payment type on arrival to this facility. When the patient has multiple insurance payers, please select all that apply. If there is any question regarding how to code a specific insurance plan, please contact your facility's billing department. Medicare options can be complex, so let us take a moment to briefly define them. Again, if you have a question regarding a specific insurance plan, please refer to your facility's billing department for clarification. Medicare Part A or B is a health insurance program for people age 65 or older, people under age 65 with certain disabilities, and people of all ages with end-stage renal disease which includes permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant. Medicare Part A helps cover inpatient care in-hospital, including critical access hospitals, and skilled nursing facilities, not including custodial or long-term care. It also helps cover hospice care and some home health care. Medicare Part B helps cover doctor services and outpatient care. It also covers some other medical services that Part A doesn't cover, such as some of the services of physical and occupational therapists and some home health care. It helps pay for these covered services and supplies when they're medically necessary. Medicare Part C or Medicare Advantage is an alternative way to get Medicare coverage through private insurance companies instead of the federal government. Part C provides the same benefits as Medicare Part A and Part B and may include additional benefits such as dental, vision, prescription drugs, and wellness programs coverage.
