This video provides instructions for adding an episode of care in version 2.3. The discharge date must be on or after April 1, 2021 for version 2.3. The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act requires the removal of Social Security numbers from Medicare cards by April 2019. The new Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) replaces the Health Insurance Claim Number (HIC) based on Social Security numbers. Enter the MBI in sequence 1, 2, 8, 4, 6. If the patient is not insured by Medicare or the MBI is not available, leave the sequence blank.
