Welcome to Lesson 1 of this learning activity titled Getting Acquainted with the V5 Dataset. The content in this lesson was developed by Connie Anderson and myself. I am Kate Malish and I will be narrating this lesson. The objectives for the learning activity Getting Acquainted with the V5 Dataset are to discuss the rationale and purpose for the V5 Dataset, locate the coding resources that will support data abstraction, and to identify parameters for coding. The V5 Dataset was created with the following goals in mind. To increase the relevance of the registry by aligning evolving clinical practice and science. To support the quality assessment and improvement initiatives of clinicians and hospitals. To accurately capture patient risk variables, thus supporting risk-adjusted metric reporting. To map diagnostic procedures to appropriate use criteria. To map PCI procedures to the updated ACS and SIHD appropriate use criteria. To improve data flow and capture. And to provide follow-up capabilities. As well, the registry seeks to ensure novel patient and or procedure information is captured to further support knowledge growth and provide new research opportunities. The development of V5 was a tremendous effort and involved coordinating the efforts of several workgroups and numerous ACC teams. These included a specific V5 Dataset workgroup, AUC workgroups to review the RE-VASC AUC documents for patients with acute coronary syndromes or stable ischemic heart disease. Workgroups to evaluate risk-adjusted mortality and bleeding. A host of ACC staff serving as liaisons to all committees. Our information technology team. And oversight from the Science and Quality Oversight Committee. The Registry Patient Inclusion Population for V5 is specific to all adult patients age 18 years or older. The procedures captured in the registry are Diagnostic Coronary Angiography and Percutaneous Coronary Interventions or PCI. Additionally, whenever a procedure is completed concomitantly with a Diagnostic Coronary Angiography or PCI procedure, this can also be identified. Participants in the CAHPS PCI Registry must indicate which population of procedures they will submit to the registry. This selection is made on the site profile page. Here you will find two options from which to choose. The first option identifies that you will provide the registry all procedures. This means all PCI procedures performed are submitted. Additionally, all Diagnostic Coronary Angiography procedures performed without PCI are submitted. If your facility only performs diagnostic procedures, please select this option. The second option identifies that you will provide the registry all procedures with the exception of diagnostic only procedures. As in the first option, this means all PCI procedures performed are submitted. The procedures that may be excluded from the submission are diagnostic procedures that occur as the only procedure during the lab visit and during the episode of care. Any diagnostic procedure that is performed with PCI in the same lab visit or during the episode of care in which PCI is performed are still included in your submission. The population submission option selected by the facility will inform the dashboard reporting of the executive summary measures and metrics. Hospitals submitting all procedures will receive the most robust reporting feedback. Hospitals excluding their diagnostic only procedure will not receive metric or detail line information on these specific procedures. This concludes Lesson 1 of Getting Acquainted with V5 Dataset. Thank you for your participation.
Video Summary
Lesson 1 of the video titled "Getting Acquainted with the V5 Dataset" discusses the objectives and goals of the V5 Dataset. The objectives include understanding the purpose of the dataset, locating coding resources, and identifying coding parameters. The goals of the V5 Dataset are to improve the relevance of the registry, support quality assessment and improvement, capture accurate patient risk variables, map diagnostic and PCI procedures to appropriate use criteria, improve data flow and capture, provide follow-up capabilities, and support knowledge growth and research opportunities. The development of the V5 Dataset involved the efforts of various workgroups and ACC teams. The Patient Inclusion Population includes all adult patients aged 18 years or older undergoing diagnostic coronary angiography and PCI procedures. Participants in the CAHPS PCI Registry can choose to submit all procedures or exclude diagnostic-only procedures, which will affect the reporting feedback they receive. Lesson 1 concludes with a thank you for participation.
