Welcome to Lesson 6 of this learning activity titled Getting Acquainted with the CATH PCI Registry V5 Dataset. The content in this lesson was developed by Connie Anderson and myself. I am Kate Malish and I will be narrating this lesson. The objectives for the learning activity Getting Acquainted with the V5 Dataset are to discuss the rationale and purpose for the V5 dataset, locate the coding resources that will support data abstraction, and to identify parameters for coding. Section L of the Data Collection Form captures information about events that occurred during the episode of care. Because the CATH PCI Registry is a procedure registry, much of the information collected captures pre- and post-procedure information. However, in this part of the data collection process, an opportunity is given to capture meaningful data that is unrelated to the diagnostic coronary angiography or PCI procedure, but provides insight into the patient's overall hospital experience. A good example is the data element Interventions This Hospitalization, which specifies that only those interventions that did not occur during the same CATH lab visit as angiography or PCI are identified. The Discharge section also captures the overall status of the patient on discharge and provides opportunities to explain the patient condition by noting if they needed comfort measures only or hospice care. And for those patients who received PCI, the Discharge section captures treatment strategies planned for post-discharge, such as identifying which medications were prescribed for home. Section M, Follow-Up, is designed to support a 30-day and or 1-year post-PCI procedure patient assessment. Collecting follow-up is optional for participants, but should you choose to participate in collecting follow-up data, then an assessment should be performed on all patients having a PCI procedure. A resource document is available to support your efforts in collecting follow-up data and provides clear information and directions on how to proceed. Other optional sections of the data collection form can be found on page 3 and 14. These include the Seattle Angina Questionnaire and the Rose Dyspnea Scale. These are patient-completed forms and for use by participants capturing long-term care and collecting follow-up data. This concludes Lesson 6 of Getting Acquainted with Cath PCI Registry V5 Dataset. Thank you for your participation.
Video Summary
Lesson 6 of the learning activity "Getting Acquainted with the CATH PCI Registry V5 Dataset" discusses the rationale and purpose of the dataset, coding resources for data abstraction, and parameters for coding. Section L of the Data Collection Form focuses on events during the episode of care, including pre- and post-procedure information. Section M is designed for optional follow-up assessments at 30 days and/or 1 year after the PCI procedure. Optional sections of the data collection form include the Seattle Angina Questionnaire and the Rose Dyspnea Scale, which are patient-completed forms for long-term care and follow-up data collection. The lesson concludes with a resource document available to support follow-up data collection efforts. This summary was developed by Connie Anderson and Kate Malish for the CATH PCI Registry V5 Dataset learning activity.
