Welcome to this learning activity titled NCDR Dashboard Functionality. The content in this presentation was developed by Melissa Nida, Fernando Garcia-Barbon, and Kate Malish. I'm David Bonner, and I will be narrating this presentation. The objectives for NCDR Dashboard Functionality include applying a systematic approach for dashboard navigation, demonstrating access of patient details and metrics, and describing dashboard comparator functionality. The eReports tab is the dashboard landing page. From this location, the user can appreciate and access all elements and functionalities included in the dashboard. It provides the user an easy, centralized view of all related information portrayed within the dashboard. In the eReports tab, participants can view all related information within the dashboard, starting with the data submission status table, which shows your facility's most recent data submission for each quarter, the uploaded date and time, and the benchmark inclusion status obtained by each submission. Below, the detailed data quality report will portray the outcomes reports that have been published and are ready to be downloaded. The in-hospital or follow-up outcomes reports are available and can be downloaded in the form of a PDF file or Excel spreadsheet. To download, please click on the PDF or Excel link. Below the data quality report, the Additional Reports tab is found. The Additional Reports tab provides access to the Release Notes report, which contains a summary of incremental modifications with respect to registry metric and registry reporting. The modification shared through these notes reports may include updates or changes to new or existing metric measures or algorithms. The File Delivery tab is utilized for NCDR communication with participants and will be referenced in registry email correspondence. The facility's encryption key, located in the Site Profile tab, may be needed to open documents shared. The Detailed Data Quality Report link will give users the ability to directly access their DQR page to see a detailed history of their DQR submission and results. The In-Hospital tab provides the user with an instant view of metrics and percentages. The Ending Timeframe drop-down menu gives participants the ability to pick an ending quarter when reviewing their metrics. The quarters will be portrayed as Not Published, which are quarters that have not been published into outcomes reports yet. These quarters will be aggregated on a weekly basis. The quarters that have been published will have a blank space and will not read Published. These quarters will only be aggregated on every data deadline. The aggregation date will portray the date of the last aggregation. Weekly aggregations take place on Sunday evenings. The information portrayed in the In-Hospital tab can be exported to a PDF file as well as an Excel spreadsheet by clicking on a link. When an unpublished quarter is selected as the Ending Timeframe, the U.S. 50th percentile percentages are based on the rolling four quarters from the last published quarter. The My Hospital percentages are based on the rolling four quarters from the quarter chosen. For example, if Quarter 2, 2019 is chosen, the rolling four quarters will include Quarter 2, 2019, Quarter 1, 2019, Quarter 4 of 2018, and Quarter 3 of 2018. Only data submitted to the registry that achieved a Green Benchmark Inclusion status is included in the My Hospital and U.S. 50th percentile data calculation. These data can also be portrayed in the form of a whisker plot by choosing Yes on the display whisker plot drop-down menu. The whisker plot will portray the U.S. 50th percentile on a linear form that includes a 10th, 25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentile. Your facility's percentile will be portrayed as an arrow indicating where your facility falls within U.S. hospital performance. A table displaying an example of a whisker plot with interpreting instructions is found in every Institutional Outcomes Report published. At the bottom of the eReports page is an informational key and the page navigation link, My Hospital, U.S. hospital 50th percentile, and the dashboard aggregation date and time information. The key for My Hospital rolling four quarter metric performance as denoted by the upward facing arrow A equals above the registry benchmark or downward facing arrow B equals below the registry benchmark and the link to move page down to the next executive summary metrics of the eReports page. We will now move on to our second objective, demonstrating access of patient detail in metrics. When navigating to the metrics by quarter tabs, first filter the page to display the desired metric category for the ending time frame selected. When the desired metrics have populated the page, a bar graph will provide quarterly performance for each quarter in which the facility has qualifying data. Note the dotted line indicating the registry benchmark. In this example, the facility has 0% in the numerator for 2017 Q4, 2018 Q2, and 2018 Q3, and 100% of the procedures in the numerator for 2018 Q1. The patient drill down list provides the opportunity to review the patients included in the metric denominator and identify those included or excluded from the metric numerator. There are two ways to navigate to the patient drill down list. From the M hospital tab, click on the metric title hyperlink. From the metrics by quarter tab, click on a metric bar graph. Once the user has navigated to the patient level detail report, the desired metric will display. Filters running along the top of the page will allow the user to select the desired year and quarter. The rolling four quarter ending time frame selected on the eReports page will determine the quarters available for review from the patient drill down list. Note that only quarters with data are available for review. Physician MPI is entered in the data collection tool. Only information provided to the registry can be displayed on the patient drill down list. When the desired selections have been made in the filter window, the user will click on retrieve report to update the patient drill down list. The patient level detail report list includes several columns providing standard information such as patient ID, other ID, last name, first name, and whether the patient was included in the numerator as well as other pertinent facts. These columns will be followed by metric specific columns that will help the user understand the patient or procedure data that is relevant to metric performance. The columns of the patient drill down list reflect the data provided to the registry by the user. When the patient name is not provided, the user will need to rely on the data collection tool generated patient ID to identify the patient. In addition to the filter options, patient level detail report can be arranged using the navigational arrows found in select column headings. Our last objective is to describe the dashboard comparator functionality. Filters are provided on the left side of the page that can be adjusted by the user. Once the filter options are selected, click on run analysis. If the filter options are too restrictive, meaning less than six hospitals meeting the criteria, a report will not be returned. As in this example, a report comprising of at least six or more hospitals ensures that hospital performance remains proprietary to the facility. When a comparison group contains at least six hospitals, a report is received as displayed. The user can click on their hospital bar graph to obtain a patient level detail report. This concludes the NCDR dashboard functionality presentation for the IMPACT and LAAO registries. Thank you for your participation.
Video Summary
