Hello. Welcome to the introduction of the American College of Cardiology's Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Quality Campaign Overview. We're excited to share with you why the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Quality Campaign Program was created and how to participate in this national campaign. The objectives for this webinar are 1. Identify the goal for the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Campaign. 2. Demonstrate how to participate and opt-in to the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Campaign. Percutaneous coronary interventions, PCIs, are an increasingly common procedure in our patient population with cardiovascular disease. There were 667,424 PCIs performed in 1,612 hospitals who participated in the CAF PCI Registry in 2014. Any amount of bleeding as a result of PCI is associated with worsening ischemic outcomes, an acute myocardial infarction, AMI, stent thrombosis, and death. Bleeding events are associated with multiple negative effects to patients' quality of life and mortality. We observe wide variation in bleeding outcomes between facilities and an opportunity for improvement. What our guidelines are suggesting is that all patients should be evaluated for risks of bleeding prior to PCI. Patients considered high risk for PCI should be part of a collaborative decision to use a radial approach. In patients with an acute coronary syndrome, ACS, treated with DAP after coronary stent implantation who are not at high risk for bleeding complications and who do not have a history of stroke or transit ischemic attacks, TIAs, it is reasonable to choose Prazugril over Clopidogrel for maintenance P2Y12 inhibitor therapy. The goal of the Reduce the Risk PCI Quality Campaign is to improve PCI bleeding rates for sites participating in the CAF PCI Registry by motivating widespread adoption of evidence-based practices to improve quality of care and to lessen the variance in the data. The program metrics include two performance measures, one outcome measures, and three process measures. All data for this campaign is abstracted from the CAF PCI Registry reports. There is no additional data collection necessary. To participate in the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Quality Campaign, your facility's registry site manager must opt-in. The next five slides will demonstrate how to opt-in to the program and participate in this campaign. All the ACC campaigns are located on the Quality Improvement for Institution webpage, located at the address on the side. There is no additional charge to utilize any of the materials located on the cbquality.acc.org webpage. The use of these resources is part of your facility's registry subscription. Opting In Step 1. Log in to the QII website. Step 2. Navigate to the Campaigns tabs and choose Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed tab. Step 3. Click on Join the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Campaign. This tab will take you to the NCDR login page, where you log in and click on the CAF PCI Registry webpage. Step 4. Click on Start Here and scroll to the bottom of this page. Only the registry site manager is able to opt your facility into the campaign. Click Here. Review the program requirements. Click Here. Then Submit. One final benefit in participating in this quality campaign is the program has been approved by CMS. Participation in this campaign counts as a high-weighted improvement activity for physicians and advanced practice practitioners participating in the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System, MIPS. This is part of the Federal Quality Payment Program. Additional information on the Merit-Based System is located on the homepage of the QII website. Thank you for participating and watching the first session in our Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Getting Started course. We hope this learning module encourages you to opt in to the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed campaign and become part of a group of hospitals that are leading the way for improved cardiovascular patient outcomes. Welcome to the Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Quality Campaign. Please join the next course to explore the material available to your team to roll out this campaign. This concludes Lesson 1 of Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Getting Started. Thank you for your participation. www.merit-basedincentives.com
Video Summary
The video is an introduction to the American College of Cardiology's Reduce the Risk PCI Bleed Quality Campaign. It explains why the campaign was created and how to participate. The objectives of the campaign include identifying the goal and demonstrating how to participate. Percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) are a common procedure for patients with cardiovascular disease, but any bleeding as a result of PCI is associated with negative outcomes. The goal of the campaign is to improve PCI bleeding rates by encouraging the adoption of evidence-based practices. Participation in the campaign is approved by CMS and counts as a high-weighted improvement activity for physicians. The video provides instructions on how to opt-in to the campaign.
