Hello, and thank you for watching this on-demand session titled, What's New, What's Different? I'm Barb Christensen, Senior Director for NCDR and Accreditation Services. And every year, I've provided an update on changes that have occurred or are planned for NCDR and Accreditation Services. My goal is to let you know about changes that we, ACC, believe are important for you to understand and be aware of. So let's get started on what's new and different in 2022 and beyond. ACC's Cardiac Cath Lab accreditation for both hospital-based and ambulatory surgery centers is designed to enhance the care provided to patients undergoing cardiac cath procedures. Accreditation helps you build better care processes by developing multidisciplinary teams dedicated to implementing and tracking sustainable quality improvement. Achieving accreditation is something to be proud of, and yet, it does require effort and time. We know that time is a valuable resource, and that is why we're excited to share the updated version of Cardiac Cath Lab accreditation now includes significant clinical and technical advances to make the re-accreditation process simple, smooth, and streamlined. The new time-saving features allow you to auto-populate key areas, sections such as foundational information, contacts, and electronic health records are now auto-populating for a faster, easier re-accreditation. You can port in supporting documents. The documents uploaded in prior Cardiac Cath Lab accreditation will automatically port over into the new system. You can bypass essential components. You can now bypass answering the essential components section during the baseline gap assessment phase. And finally, attestation of essential components. The option to attest to designated EC in the application phase has been added to reduce the workload of facilities renewing their accreditation. Time-saving time allows you to go further with your quality improvement efforts and empowers you to move beyond the mandatory into the recommended and innovative components. We will be implementing these time-saving features in other accreditation products as they are updated. The Emergency Medical Services Partner and Care Recognition is the ACC's program recognizing EMS agencies who have a solid partnership with a chest pain center accredited or certified facility. These facilities build robust, ongoing relationships with their local and regional EMS partners to ensure the highest level of care for their patients. With the EMS Partner and Care, the ACC recognizes the crucial role of EMS in initiating care and getting the patient to the right hospital at the right time to impact their overall outcome. If your facility is chest pain center accredited or certified, you'll want to make sure to recognize your EMS providers through the Partner and Care program. The recognition process is easy and the benefits include the EMS agency and the facility coordinator receive a recognition kit, including a unique chest pain center partner and care seal that corresponds to the hospital's accreditation or certification seal. The facility and the EMS agency will receive a marketing kit that includes press release statements, social media graphics, and messaging. And the ACC will promote the agency's recognition through ACC communication channels, the Quality Improvement for Institutions website, and ACC's insertion in the 2023-2024 U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital Edition. To recognize your EMS providers, follow the specific steps found on the QII website or contact Accreditation Customer Care. Also, a link can be found on the resource slide at the end of this presentation. Over the years, many facilities going through the accreditation process have asked such questions as, how can we expand our CV service line? Should we add additional offerings or what's the best way to increase our cardiovascular volume? Now, I'm pleased to share a new offering that tiers MedAxiom and ACC Accreditation Services together called CV Care Delivery Optimization Program. MedAxiom, an ACC company, and the cardiovascular community's premier source for organizational performance solutions, will power the optimization program. And the program is designed to help you achieve your cardiovascular service line excellence by addressing gaps and identifying opportunities. Is your facility ready to receive recognition for its dedication to quality cardiovascular care? Then you might want to consider taking the online assessment from MedAxiom and optimize your cardiovascular care delivery system. Let's take a little closer look. The MedAxiom membership community is home to thousands of providers, administrators, and clinicians who share ideas, data, best practice, insights, and innovations to advance cardiovascular programs. And membership provides exclusive access to organizational performance solutions, education, and other resources, which are designed to help cardiovascular programs thrive in today's rapidly evolving healthcare environment. The CV Care Delivery Optimization Program combines this membership, a review of NCDR data and other quality metrics, a CV service line assessment and gap analysis, and stakeholder interviews to identify and prioritize organizational improvements that most effectively optimize the area of interest for your accreditation program. In addition, two consultants will conduct a two-day site visit and meet with key stakeholders, including administrative, physician leadership, operational directors, your referral partners, and others that directly interact with your cardiovascular services. If you'd like more information and a link to the survey, which can be found on the resource slide at the end of this presentation. Now moving into the NCDR, there's a few updates for the LAAO registry coming at the end of the year. I'm really happy to announce the registry will soon release technical specifications to third-party software vendors who want to develop solutions to facilitate the data collection and submission to NCDR. Many of you have been asking when a vendor option will be available, and we're happy to say it will be very soon. As with other registry programs, the NCDR online data collection tool will be available. However, NCDR certified vendor solutions have demonstrated the ability to save time and create efficiencies for users. A list of NCDR certified software vendors can be found on the QII website or in the resources at the end of the presentation. Another NCDR first will be the addiction of capturing the fellows in training, or FIT, who participate in the procedure. For those of you who work in facilities that have FITs, this will be one way for you to engage them in the quality process early in their career. Over the years, we've heard how hard it is to engage physicians to be quality champions. Now you'll be able to not only provide the primary operator their specific data reports, but the FIT as well. And I can see this as a great future quality summit poster presentation. Let everyone know how you engaged your FITs in the quality journey. As other NCDR registries are updated, the FIT will be added to those as well. You may have noticed something new when you've logged into NCDR, the addition of adult congenital and pediatric cardiology quality network. If you're not familiar with ACPCQNet, it is a national network of congenital heart disease centers dedicated to collecting and sharing data, collaborating, and developing best practices for CHD patients. The network welcomes small practices, hospitals, and health systems to enroll. It's different from the IMPACT registry, which captures CHD procedure data. These participating facilities in the network have the opportunity to collect quality metric data across a wide range of clinical areas pertinent to the management of adult and pediatric CHD patients in both the outpatient and the inpatient setting. The network is crucial to building an effective data set that will drive quality improvement, and advance the development and delivery of adult and pediatric cardiology standards of care for the congenital heart patient. I would encourage you to check out QNET, especially if you manage and treat adult or pediatric CHD patients. We take customer support very seriously. As we know, solving your problem and answering your question is important to you. The faster and more efficient we are, the faster you get your answers. Salesforce is a customer management solution that NCDR has been using for many years, and we have now moved accreditation customer care onto the Salesforce platform. What this means is that we can easily create cases, track their status, and see a holistic view of activity for your account. A feature called Web-to-Case allows you, the customer, to enter information through the private side Contact Us, and that information is used to automatically create a case in Salesforce. That saves the customer support team time, which in turn allows them to focus on assigning and responding to incoming questions. In 2023, we plan to add new features and improvements to the existing NCDR private side Web-to-Case feature, also accessed through the Contact Us link. These include a customer portal page where you can view the last 20 cases you've submitted. You can view the case owner, and this is the NCDR individual or team that's taken ownership of the case. You can view the case status, including the last modified date. You can read closed cases, and you can write and edit open cases, such as modifying the subject line or description, adding more case comments, or additional information or questions. Plus, you'll be able to add attachments, up to three at a time. All of these enhancements are designed to provide more information to you at your convenience. You'll be able to access the customer portal 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And once we've rolled these features out to NCDR, we'll add to accreditation participants as well, and we'll provide more detailed user information as we move closer to implementation of these new features. Last year, I told you about NCDR Optimization, a multi-year, multi-dimensional project that has four key pillars. And these are to, one, reduce the burden and enhance the scope of data collection, two, increase NCDR value to stakeholders, three, promote quality improvement, and four, support population health management. A major focus over the past several months has been work to modernize reporting, easy access of data, and enhance the NCDR interface to enable users to extract more value from their data. Here are just a few of the things we've been doing. NCDR engaged experts in user experience design, data architecture, and data visualization, all things that make it better for you, the user. We selected Microsoft Power BI as the business intelligence solution for the dashboard redesign. We worked with hospital users and other stakeholders on the features and options needed in a dashboard redesign, and we're currently working to build and implement a product for use. Having the dashboards built on Power BI platform will provide a much more flexible environment and allow for future customization and enhancements. While most of the recent work has been behind the scenes, it's been laying the foundation for a better, more interactive user experience. We're on track to begin delivery for some of the registry programs in 2023, and we'll communicate any new updates as they roll out. And finally, a reminder to check out the QII Learning Center for new courses specific to ACC's accreditation services, as well as the NCDR case scenarios, previously quality summit sessions, and general quality topics. Quality Summit 2022 sessions will be posted in early 2023, so you'll be able to catch up on anything you might have missed for this year's Quality Summit. This concludes what's new, what's different for this year. Here are a few resources you might find helpful. If you save the presentation as a favorite and download, the hyperlinks will take you directly to the webpage. Thanks for watching.
