Reducing the “door to balloon” time may be one of the most prolific process improvement initiatives of the past two decades, but don’t confuse frequency with actual success! Join this session to better understand the efficacy of this performance measure and strategies for decreasing the time from STEMI presentation to first PCI device activation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate one patient benefit to minimizing the time from MI symptoms to complete revascularization.
  • Recommend one patient benefit to timely revascularization for STEMI patients.
  • Analyze how to design a successful team approach for improving patient throughput (i.e., door to first PCI device).
