Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death and disability, and a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) introduced a National Quality Initiative (NQI) on Smoking Cessation to lead the way in assisting clinicians and patients in breaking the habit and saving lives.

  • Explain the importance of evidence-based strategies in supporting successful smoking cessation efforts.
  • Discuss the role of healthcare providers in implementing quality measures to promote smoking cessation.
